  1. PROJECT: Design Bespoke Online Reporting Systems.

    CLIENTS:

    OBJECTIVE:

    Design comprehensive reporting systems, accessible online, to gather data from the ground up, with explicit access tiering and external oversight.

    ROLE:

    Coordinate complex data collection strategies at numerous sites around the globe.

    OUTCOME:

    A seamless incorporation of real-time data collection into the reporting process, with internal transparency, external oversight, and secure data management.

  2. PROJECT: Incorporate financial and non-financial KPIs into sustainability oversight.

    CLIENT:

    Leading chemicals company

    OBJECTIVE:

    Link corporate strategic objectives with financial and non-financial key performance indicators

    ROLE:

    Corporate advisory, working with Executive Committee members and the communications and management team to clarify strategic objectives and to recommend and develop key performance indicators accordingly.

    OUTCOME:

    Strategic progress is now communicated internally and externally in the Annual Report with a consistent set of KPIs which can be linked to executive remuneration and incentives.

  3. PROJECT: Implement consistent global health and safety reporting.

    CLIENT:

    Global logistics firm

    OBJECTIVE:

    Implement consistent global health and safety reporting covering > 150,000 employees globally.

    ROLE:

    Major shareholders expressed concern at the lack of consistent H&S reporting. Worked with Board and Executive Committee members, functional specialists and operations management to develop and implement consistent reporting of leading and lagging H&S key performance indicators.

    OUTCOME:

    Investor support maintained. H&S performance now “owned” by operations management team and reporting and performance improvement are ongoing.

  4. PROJECT: Identify areas of structural and ethical risk.

    CLIENT:

    Manufacturer with operations across five continents

    OBJECTIVE:

    Establish CSR, Governance and Ethics related risk management.

    ROLE:

    Advised corporate and divisional management on key risk exposures, including human rights, bribery and corruption, environmental, safety and human capital management.

    OUTCOME:

    Developed Code of Ethics and supporting policies to address these. Liaised with key external stakeholders to ensure continued membership of the FTSE4Good and other related indices. Risk register now includes reputation and related risks.

  5. PROJECT: Implement a global health and safety reporting system.

    CLIENT:

    Emerging market resources company

    OBJECTIVE:

    Implement consistent global health and safety reporting covering > 150,000 employees globally.

    ROLE:

  6. PROJECT: Prepare time-sensitive GRI Sustainability Reports.

    CLIENT:

    Global logistics firm

    OBJECTIVE:

    Prepare GRI Sustainability Report to support potential IPO, within a tight timetable.

    ROLE:

    Advice on investor expectations and peer group positioning, assess existing internal data reporting. Work with other advisers to produce draft sustainability report for Board review.

    OUTCOME:

    Report produced to support IPO, later pulled due to economic situation. Recommendations in place to address reporting weaknesses to prepare for IPO when equity market conditions improve.

  7. PROJECT: Establish Carbon Footprinting and Environmental reporting.

    CLIENT:

    Various quoted companies

    OBJECTIVE:

    Establish or improve Carbon Footprinting and Environmental reporting.

    ROLE:

    Work with clients to explain the evolving situation covering both legal (i.e. listing) and other requirements such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Advice on data collection processes and analysis to meet these requirements and to identify performance opportunities.

    OUTCOME:

    Bespoke processes for each client covering management, Board and external reporting.

  8. PROJECT: Monitor institutional investor concerns.

    CLIENT:

    Various

    OBJECTIVE:

    Liaison with institutional investors on key governance and CSR related risks.

    ROLE:

    Survey largest investors to ensure client is aware of evolving investor expectations and can implement appropriate programmes which enhance shareholder value.

    OUTCOME:

    Mutually beneficial dialogue of client and investor.

  9. PROJECT: Writing and reviewing the Annual Report.

    CLIENT:

    Various

    OBJECTIVE:

    Writing and reviewing the Annual Report.

    ROLE:

    Working with client from original design to published report, including liaising with relevant in-house contributors to ensure comprehensive but relevant coverage and consistency of presentation.

    OUTCOME:

    Annual reports which meet the requirements of the 2006 Companies Act and which are central to the client’s communications strategy, reflecting the culture of the company.

  10. PROJECT: Human Capital Management reporting.

    CLIENT:

    Specialist materials company

    OBJECTIVE:

    Human Capital Management Reporting.

    ROLE:

    Work with client team to identify, monitor and report key drivers of HCM performance and cost. Implement reporting processes covering operations in 40 countries worldwide.

    OUTCOME:

    Regular reports to the Board enable performance to be managed pro-actively rather than just reported “after the event”.
